Exercise Groups: Focus on range of motion exercises which enhance flexibility, strength, coordination, posture and balance. Participants in these groups report that the classes are fun and sociable, in addition to being beneficial to their strength and stability.
Speech and Swallowing Therapy: Group exercises to improve volume and articulation of speech. Also provide an emphasis on effective swallowing.
Care Partner Groups: Family members share experiences and provide support for each other as they navigate the effects that PD can have on their loved ones. Sessions are led by a professional facilitator.
General Membership Meetings: These meetings, open to the public, present topics covering various aspects of living well with Parkinson’s. Speakers include neurologists, therapists, pharmacists and representatives from various medical professions, as well as inspirational and motivational speakers. Meetings are typically held the 2nd Monday of each month at 1:00pm at the Fellowship Hall of University Park United Methodist Church (4024 Caruth at Preston Road). Schedule subject to change. Newsletters and Other Information: Newsletters featuring DAPS events, PD research updates, member news, and more are sent via mail and e-mail each month. Numerous other resources are available online and at the DAPS office.
